Awareness is different than Attention!

First of all, we need to realize that there is ATTENTION (which is our own) and then we need to understand and experience its implications.

It’s different than Awareness

So what is Attention then if it is not awareness, contemplation or consideration? It is not focusing because when we are focusing, we are trying to discard all the other aspects of the object which we are not concentrating on. Also, focusing seems to be a strenuous process with extensive usage of self-will. Attention, on the 18 other hand, is more of a softer and smoother function of focusing. It is not strenuous but is a very vitalizing and energizing process. Focus can either be active or not active at all, whereas Attention can be active or passive.

Thus, Attention in one of the simplest term means the act of activating your sense of self at a specific time and a specific pace. So now, what is sense of self? If we start with the basics then one of the senses of self is our physical body. Our thoughts and emotions could be anywhere (past or future) but the body is always in the present. The body is always in the Here and Now. The Here is the space cubicle in the now and the Now is the time cubicle in the here.
